So much that's positive.
One area that must be improved is lighting and signage. First responders have a hard time finding the various buildings because almost nothing is in place to show them where to arrive. Even worse after dark. Please invest in our safety.
Really off the grid.
Beautiful and walkable grounds.
Very nice community of good people. There are pros and cons to the "re-branding" of Simpson House. Unity and greater diversity in some of the organizations and systems will improve Simpson House for everyone.
Remember the words of President Abraham Lincoln who was a friend of Bishop Simpson. "A house divided cannot stand".
Yesterday, I celebrated my sixth anniversary living here at Simpson House. I am glad I selected Simpson House for my elder years. I appreciate the warmth of the people who live here, am thrilled with my apartment and enjoy participating in the activities.
When my wife and I were ready to sell our home, downsize, and move to a senior continuing care residence, we choose Simpson House. We liked that it had a Philadelphia cross-cultural feel and is located across the street from West Fairmount Park. Years before considering it for ourselves, Simpson House had shown love and care in providing for my father-in-law. Now that same 24-7 care is provided to us.
We enjoy the community spirit here and the staff desire to serve us physically and emotionally. When COVID hit, Simpson House established protocol and protection to its residents that became a model for other facilities. It provides for us spiritually, too. Simpson House has a chaplain and Sunday worship services (As a retired minister, I even get to preach!).
We wanted a place where we could happily spend the rest of our lives. Simpson House is it.
We moved into Independent Living 3 years ago. We're so glad to be part of a community, especially during COVID. Everyone is friendly and helpful. We could even bring our dog; my partner walks her all around the neighborhood, and everyone here at SH stops to pet her. They provide lots of activities, and are amenable to those the residents suggest.
