Awesome day! It was "Charter Day" at PA State Historic sites. Spent the whole day at William Penn's big kitchen! Their historic cooks were whipping up delicacies you have NEVER seen before. Third Sunday in April they are working their bake oven! Don't miss it!
Beautiful property. The tour guide was engaging and obviously loved what he talked about. The tour was interesting to me even though being Pennsylvanian I have seen almost everything to do with pre-revolutionary history.
Holly Nights at Pennsbury Manor is a two night yearly Yuletide event in early December. Pennsbury Manor is the summer home of William Penn. A recreation of his 17th century home on 43 beautiful acres in Bucks County. The family home is all decked out for Christmas and you also get to visit the accessory buildings including the kitchen, brewery, barn/stable, blacksmith and more. The pathways are lighted with candle lit lanterns. Grab a hot cider by the bon fire. Look for Father Christmas for a family photo.
Great experience. Learned a lot about not only William Penn, but also about the quaker religion. Well informed tour guide and beautiful nature around the manor.
It is a great place to step back in time and visit the summer home of William Penn. You can walk to grounds of a recreated (at least in spirit) of his residence. They offer tours from very enthusiastic guides and have many special days offering demonstration from spinning yarn to brewing beer. Great place for education or just a relaxing day.
