I read reviews before visiting, not all were terrific...I'm glad I didn't take heed to them. I had a great experience! The young lady at the register was super pleasant, after I ordered the cook came out and explained there would be an 15-20 minute wait, which I expected but was pleased she informed me. I ordered fried fish and shrimp, mac-n-cheese and yams. The food was delicious!! The customer service was great, thus this place has a happy new regular!
Best food I had in South Jersey in a long time. Surprisingly it’s hard to find good soul food in South Jersey been to quite a few establishments. Placed order over the phone and owner greeted me in a pleasant sweet voice. Food was ready when I arrived and I must say I will be going back! Sides Mac n cheese, yams, and greens were on point! Everything was yummy. Establishment could have been cleaner and more neater but I understand as a business owner how hard it is today to keep and find good staff. Looking fwd to eating here again!
First time supporting ordered Carrot Cake which that alone is 5STARS it was amazing and lives up to the name. I also ordered chicken & fish & shrimp platter . Chicken was cooked well & seasoned cabbage was decent as well. I personally was not a fan of the Mac & Cheese but my husband attests to it being “made with care” as most restaurants do not put much love into Mac & cheese. I also ordered a fish sandwich because there were no side options for fish; but unfortunately I have a shellfish allergy & the fish is cooked in the same oil as the shrimp so I was unable to try it but was happy to hear they use a separate fryer for their chicken. Service could have been a little better, although I understand that this business can be overwhelming as I too have my own catering business however despite it all your customers are a big aspect to a thriving business having a greeter / front staff who isn’t involved in cooking and just helps with order taking will help significantly. Lastly; I would recommend calling ahead if you doordash to make sure the items you desire is still available; I will go back to try their BBQ Jerk which isn’t an everyday option but sounds delicious; Happy to support black owned businesses
