Liberty City Roasters

Been using Liberty city roasters beans for about two weeks and enjoying delicious coffee. Owner is really nice. Just from our small talk I could tell Jeff knows his stuff and is passionate about his craft. He's trying to deliver the true flavor of coffee and show people that these Starbucks drinks are actually desserts. Sweeteners and fats should be occasional flavor indulgences, not a tool to mask the taste of a bad brew. Coffee can and should taste good by itself. He recommends the clever dripper brewer and filtered tap water. Right now I'm brewing with the pour over method and a metal filter because I want to avoid plastic. The beans are good. To get the best you have to grind your own beans. Make sure you get a grinder with nice adjustments. I had a lot of static cling on my grinds but using the Ross droplet technique minimized it. Water can influence taste but combining minerals to find what yields the best flavor can be impractical for most people and may only deliver marginal flavor improvements. Filtered tap is good enough for me right now but I may try mineral blends in the future for fun. I think my favorite was inca sunrise but I liked all the beans I tried. The bloom on these beans was awesome. Grocery store beans can't compete. The price here is great too! There's a decent selection to try as well. If you choose the pickup option there is no storefront and he operates in a small warehouse area located in the back (look for door 222R). He said he'll be opening a cafe in Langhorne soon. I'm glad I found this place and definitely recommend it for anyone looking for some good tasting affordable beans. Happy brewing!

I bought 5 pounds of the bourbon variety green coffee beans. The shipping and packaging was good and the beans have roasted very well. Obviously they were fresh and good quality. This will be a “go to” source for me.

UPDATE SEPT. 2020 - I’ve continued to get product since my first review from Liberty City Roasters and always have a good experience. The owner Jeff is knowledgeable and willing to assist and advise. The products I’ve ordered have exceeded expectations and always been fresh. Great source for green coffee beans as well as roasted!

I've not (yet) bought green coffee beans from Liberty City, but like the roasting hints they provide with their green coffee beans.

I also appreciate the time & effort they put into creating a home roasting process for the FreshRoast coffee roaster. While their guide was made for the SR500, I'm using it as a starting point with my SR800 roaster.

Although I have never bought Liberty City's roasted coffee, I have bought their green/raw coffee beans to roast myself several times and with awesome results! The owner, Jeff started as an amateur roaster like myself and is always ready to share his roasting tips and offer suggestions. I have found that his green coffee offerings are superb and at better than competitive prices. I will keep buying from him as long as I can. It's refreshing to see a roasting business that reaches out to the little guy like myself! I am especially found of the Mexican beans which mix well with most other beans and the El Salvador which is so smooth and creamy! Enjoy what he roasts for you or try your hand at roasting from Liberty City's green coffee offerings! Edit: It's been several months since my post and if I could rate Jeff again, I'd still give him 5 stars!!

The best, smoothest coffee. Liberty City Roasts in small batches so it is always fresh and that makes the coffee smoother and richer in flavor. A large variety of different house blends can fit anyone's taste.
