Great place... Discovered a lot of new things
Went as a chaperone with my 3rd grader's school trip. Very well organized and highly educational. Kids got to do their own digging in a former quarry. Later staff helped to identify the fossils and handed out cards. You get to keep the fossils. We found petrified wood, sponges, clams and oyster fossils. Can't wait until they open up the museum. Right now the park is not open to the public all the time.
You have to look for their community events, but it was really, really cool. This place is not only a super important piece of science and history, but it's fun to dig like a kid and find your own fossils!!
I have been a volunteer at the Park for over a year helping out with school groups, excavating for fossils and cleaning fossils at Rowan. Highly recommended for a very rewarding volunteer opportunity
Best thing I've done in my life!!! So much fun
