Although this historic house is still closed to the public, it's free to admire from the outside. It was built in 1748-50 with Wissahickon Schist and a lovely wraparound porch. There is a side yard with a table for picnicking. There is a free parking lot out front which we use when we hike around West Fairmount Park.
Went on the historic Fairmount house tour. The house was decorated in period pieces 1800 s
Had an exceptionally great tour here. The house has a long history and is well maintained with many of the original contents. Ample free parking and proximity to other fairmont park attractions make Cedar Grove a great side trip.
Beautiful and interesting historical home in Fairmount Park. Lots of original furniture and artifacts. Enjoyed our tour and asking questions about the house, the owners and seeing how they would have lived. Only 10 minutes from the Philadelphia Museum of Art by car.
A classic in American Revolutionary homes. I was employed there at a time. I enjoyed giving tours of the hose and describing its rich history.
